Rajamala

Rajamala is a famous hill station just 15 kms from Munnar. It is the natural habitat of the Nilgiri Thar (Hemitragas hylocres) an endangered mountain goat. Eravikulam in Rajamala region is now home to half the world population, around 1300 of the Thars. Besides the rare goat family the Rajamala Wildlife Sanctuary also offers a safe accommodation to a wide variety of fauna. Rajamala is part of Eravikulam National park. The Niligiri tahr in Rajamala are now to be found in small herds found in Eravikulam-Rajamala region. The total number of Niligiri Tahrs in Rajamala is estimated to be over 1300. The picturesque beauty of this mountain will make you want to tent here forever! Located between Munnar and Rajamala, Nyayamakad is a land of breathtaking waterfalls.
