The main deity is Goddess Bhadrakali, a form of the Goddess Parvati, she is popularly known as Malayalapuzha amma or Mother of Malayalapuzha. This hill top village where it is situated is also named after the mother. The central image of the Goddess is made neither of granite nor the compound of five metals. The 5.5-foot tall icon is made of a mixture of molasses, clay and herbs.
