Devikulam Hill Station

Devikulam is around 7 kms from Munnar and is a beautiful hill station. This lovely hill station located in Munnar is famous for its breath-taking locales and scenic spots. Right in the heart of this landscape is a small lake that has crystal clear water, the Sita Devi Lake. This lake with its mineral waters is also a good picnic spot. Legend says that Sita Devi, Lord Sri Rama’s wife came down to play in the lake and the place came to be known as ‘Devikulam’, which means the lake of the goddess. The lake attracts tourists for its sacredness as well as its curative properties of its mineral water. Devikulam is a nature lovers' paradise and not far away from the lake is the spectacular Pallivasal Waterfalls. There are vast areas of tea plantations in and around Devikulam. The natural vegetation of the hill resort comprises the gum tress in red and blue. The lake is ideal for trout fishing also. The climate of the hill resort of Devikulam is mild throughout the year and tourists can take a tour to Devikulam any time of the year. In order to reach Devikulam, you will have to climb a steep mountain track. The hill station is famous for its unique flora and fauna. It has a paradise like feel to it and nature blooms in its best form here. Taking a walk in the early morning mist along the softly gushing waterfalls that cascade from steep heights are sure to rejuvenate your soul. All this creates a magical atmosphere to the place and adds to the romantic beauty here.
